Directions via Highway 60

  • Take highway 60 through Apache Junction
  • Pass through Superior and Miami
  • BEFORE you get to globe, turn left onto highway 188 (Lake Roosevelt exit).
  • Approximately 20 miles, turn RIGHT onto AZ 288. This road will take you across the Salt River on a narrow, one lane bridge.
  • Follow this road to Young
  • When you reach Young, you will follow the main road (288) through the town, past the School, the Cherry Creek Store and the Forest Service Station sign, until you reach mile marker 308.
  • You will immediately turn right, over a cattle guard, onto Buck McKinney Road.
  • Continue south following the dirt road for a total of 4+ miles to the ranch as follows:
  • Turn left at the first fork 100 yards after turning onto Buck McKinney Road at the dead cottonwood tree.
  • Cross the creek over a buttressed ford and continue past the Trap Shooting Range.
  • After approximately 1 mile you will come to a fork in the road. TAKE THE RIGHT FORK. There is a sign there on the right that says “Cherry Creek Ranch – 3”. This is FSR 54A.
  • You will soon cross Cherry Creek twice again in fairly rapid succession. Keep on this route.
  • At the next fork, KEEP RIGHT and this will take you to the front gate of Cherry Creek Lodge and the Tilting H Ranch.
  • Continue through the gate and you will see Lake Sharon and the Lodge.
  • Park in front of the main stairs leading up to the balcony and come on in!

Directions via Beeline (Highway 87)

  • Take the Bee Line Highway (Highway 87) out of Phoenix north to Payson.
  • When you get to Payson, take Highway 260 East approximately 30 miles until yourrive at the top of the Rim, past Woods Canyon Lake).
  • The “Desert to tall Pines”, “Young Road” will be a right turn off Highway 260, Approximately 9/10 of a mile past mile marker 284.
  • Take the Young Road south for 25 miles to Young (approximately 16 miles of dirt/gravel).
  • When you arrive in Young, you will pass the Post Off ice and “Hunt Building Materials” on your left. At the next bend, turn left across the cattle guard onto Buck McKinney Road
  • Continue south following the dirt road for a total of 4 miles to the ranch as follows:
  • left at the first fork soon after turning on Buck McKinney Road at the dead cottonwood tree
  • Cross the creek over a buttressed ford and continue past the Trap Shooting Range.
